Krabi is no longer only a short stop on the way to the islands. In the years after the pandemic, the province has been changing quickly and is gradually becoming a connecting capital of southern Thailand.

Wider roads and stronger connections

Major routes are expanding to four lanes, improving connections with Phuket, Phang Nga, Surat Thani and nearby provinces. Krabi's location makes it a base for the sea, jungle and the wider South.

A more organised modern city

In some areas, electricity and communications infrastructure is moving underground. Local markets and businesses are being joined by new commercial services, including Central Krabi, developed by one of Thailand's largest development companies.

A larger international gateway

Krabi International Airport is undergoing major expansion. Together with roads, accommodation and new services, it strengthens Krabi as a gateway to southern Thailand.

Not three days — a base for a month

Three days offer only a taste. Krabi is a large province of islands, beaches, jungles, villages and a growing city. Long-stay visitors can rent a villa for a month, hire a car and use Krabi as a base to explore the South.

Its land, nature, infrastructure, airport and shopping areas place Krabi in a new position: not only a short holiday stop, but a hub connecting southern Thailand.
